no room in the 124 to do the front gearshift bushing one that way.  Rear one you can use a bolt. I use channellocks.  Started that 48 years ago on the 110.

I did them on the 126 using a bolt and some washers, which I think is kinda the po-man's tool.  Someone at some point had suggested that approach.  It worked OK but was a bit fiddly as there was not a lot of room up in there to turn the nut/bolt to squeeze in the bushing.  But it didn't cost $40 and I didn't have to deal with finding the special tool either, so there's that.  I don't know how the 124 compares to the 126 (and 123 too) so YMMV.
