No worse than a lot of the cars back in the 70's when pollution control came in etc. They were detuned to the point that they could hardly move. I remember driving a Mustang II with a 4 cylinder engine as a loaner from the dealership. A 240D would have run circles around it.

I never tried timing it to 70, but that is probably about right.   A 240D was never meant to be a freeway flyer.   An 87 300D or newer is much better for that.   You have to think like you are driving a truck in the 40s-60s.   We drove trucks with chevy 6 cylinder gassers.   You don't ever pass unless you can drop back, take a run, and get to the other vehicle ahead with a LONG open stretch in the left lane.    If the timing does not work out, you drop back and try again.  Compared to some of the old trucks with a load, driving a 240D auto is like a dream.

Give us a 0-60 time.    240Ds are ideal for running 2 lane roads, and metro streets.   They will run down the interstate ok at 65-70, but you need time to get up to speed.   The 240D was not made to ba a "luxury" car, it was made to be economical and DURABLE, and it is one of the best at that.    MBNA killed them because they did not fit the "luxury" marketing vision the bowties had.

Remember Monfort?   They were the first company to run high powered trucks east of the rockies.   The left lane was known as the Monfort lane in the 70s.

Just have to learn to drive it. It’s a totally different mindset driving one of these.
