Carp, I forgot he wanted a laptop. I haven't kept up with the newer models. I was talking to some guys at a reseller in New Zealand the other day and they were talking about an HP something but I can't remember what.My boss has an HP that looks similar to a Macbook but its plastic so its lighter and doesn't burn your legs. If I'd known about it when I got my mac I'd never have gotten what I've got now. -Curt

When it first happened, moving the lid would fix it, so the problem is with the flat flex circuit going through the hinge, not the display panel itself. I figured that was just a random thing. 2 years ago I had to replace the battery. 1 year ago the Chinese replacement battery was worse than the original battery. Cheap Amazon battery #2 is holding up fine. This summer one of the hinges jammed, and cracked the lid at the hinge. This seems to be something that happens to them all eventually, but it took over nine years to happen to me, so hard to be mad. Next computer will probably be a $600 17" HP from Costco. Hoping to either get the current ones for $500 or one with an 11th gen processor for $600 by year end. These days a cheap $600 lappy comes with 12GB ram and 1 TB hard drive, and the Costco HPs still have a DVD writer. On 2020-10-25 19:37, Curt Raymond via Mercedes wrote: > HP Z2.
