You KNOW it wasn't the engineers that came up with that idea. That change, "Eliminate the dipstick and fill tube." has Management written all over it. I've experienced this myself, some years ago now, regarding diagnostic LED's that were visible through the cooling grille on the side of a computer. Big 'cost saving' measure to eliminate 25 cents worth of LED's. Times the thousands of units of our total production, this no doubt 'saved' enough to buy their celebratory lunch --- at McDonalds!
