You gotta get her on board. Period. What self-respecting parent doesn’t believe that a kid should participate in work around the house, i.e., chores? And I’m not talking about the sh*t my Midwestern parents expected, like major work, but something as simple as maybe loading the dishwasher after meals or taking out the trash on a regular basis. Yeah, I had to make my bed, clean my bathroom and do a number of other things on a daily or weekly basis, but it was expected. Start out small. Not only that, but it can provide a sense of accomplishment and ownership, not to mention help with self-esteem.
Self-entitlement is an ugly thing and near impossible to reverse. You’ll pay a serious price for it in the long term. -D > On May 29, 2022, at 5:28 PM, Kaleb Striplin via Mercedes > <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: > > I try to, but can't get him to do anything and if I try too hard, then my > spouse says I am too hard on him, so it is a no win situation. > > On 5/29/2022 4:27 PM, dan penoff.com via Mercedes wrote: >> That what kids are for, Kaleb.
