I think a lot of it is just your inborn nature. Growing up, my parents never really had chores for me. I volunteered to cut the grass, then started doing it for money around the neighborhood. Got a paper route on my own. Got my first "real" job with a paycheck when I was 16. Bought a clapped out VW beetle and rebuilt the engine from books. I have never been unemployed for more than a few weeks since then.
I still have trouble keeping my room clean though.
