The urban demographic that tends to buy the S Class used tends to buy them to bolster an image of a higher end lifestyle, whereas the E Class would present an appearance of a lesser, plebian lifestyle. In other words, these cars are purchased with money folks don't have, to buy cars they don't need, to impress people they don't know or even like.
