For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t buy current model Craftsman tools, either. All of mine are legacy tools that either I purchased or were handed down to me from my Dad. Reminds me that I need to order some rebuild kits for my ratchets….
The tools that are in those new Craftsman boxes are nearly all HF “Quinn” brand, and I’m very pleased with them so far. -D On Sep 7, 2022, at 12:35 PM, Curt Raymond via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com<mailto:mercedes@okiebenz.com>> wrote: I quit buying Craftsman the first time I bought an SK ratchet. It opened my eyes to how bad Craftsman products post 2000 have been. Their wrenches in particular are pure garbage, barely smoothed, never mind polished, with clear casting seams on them. HF wrenches are better quality for half the price. More recently I've bought a few HF ratchets, I was initially wary of them but they've been excellent. I've got a 1/2" drive extendo at camp that I've stood on, it's only like 18" long but that's still 300+# at the ratchet pawls. It's held up fine. At home I've got one of the 3/8" bending head ones, works great for very little money. -Curt On Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 02:31:39 PM EDT, Bob Rentfro via Mercedes <mercedes@okiebenz.com<mailto:mercedes@okiebenz.com>> wrote: I wonder when the Craftsman stuff will be on sale again? It’s $598 currently at my Lowes. I’ll be down by the HF later today so I might pop in and give them a look. I don’t need the little plastic tacklebox looking things, I mean the nice large drawers, ball bearings, whatever makes them awesome ones. I am consolidating three separate boxes into one. Well at least that’s my intention. I am also retiring a large, old, metal chest of drawers that once was used to hold sewing patterns. I have it full of random crap that I’m either gonna get rid of or sell and one of those drawers has useful tools that will have to be consolidated into a toolbox. What’s good, homies?
