I like that! Yeah, there’s only so much you can do. If my sister in law was home we would button the place up, pack up things and head over there (she lives on the east coast over by West Palm) since they won’t get any of the storm. Then it’s just a matter of getting back after the storm to assess the damage.
The models are rarely “exactly” right, and a shift of a few degrees of the path in one direction or another can make a substantial difference in how bad things get, so I’m not ready to freak out just yet. As a long time local weather forecaster that has a list of rules says about safety during a hurricane, the last rule being “Rule #7 - Don’t freak out unless I’m freaking out.” It’s so well known around here that a local brewery has a “Rule #7” beer. The models are now showing a slight shift to the south of us, and that’s god news for us, sort of. If we end up on the north side of the eye we’ll get more wind, but it will be of lower velocity since the eye may be farther away.
