Yup, if you work with sockets you should have no problem with any platform
Metacard supports. I'm currently working with it on a Mac myself. You could
also use AppleEvents on Mac, and other methods on other platforms to write
CGIs, but sockets will work everywhere (and are faster than dealing with
AppleEvents).
