The network topology has absolutely nothing to do with performance, unless
your hardware is damaged in some sort. 10BaseT, 10Base2 and 10Base5 are
all the same bit speed.

You're, however, correct in stating that hardrive speed and controller
play a part in performance. That is why I removed that variable in my
tests.
