This one might also help:

    level2 oplocks = yes

See also Speed.txt (Samba docs). About "read prediction = true" it says
something different than smb.conf docs, as well as about whether "getwd
cache" is set to "yes" by default or not. So it might be a good idea, to
put them both into the config file just in case.
