Hi, What sort of things can I do to keep an edgerouter 8 cool that doesn't have fans? I'm ready to pull the fans out of it because they have a certain harmonic that makes me physically ill. But I like the octeon!
So short of throwing it out I'm thinking of pulling the plug (on the fans). Would running it with 1 core instead of multicpu keep it cooler? Would it be enough? Should I glue some rasperry pi heatsinks to the CPU? I have a few extra. These are the 2nd fans on this thing they were supposed to be quieter but they still annoy me. I understand I'm a very sensitive person to noise and vibration (ever since I was a baby). Other than running off one core only to keep thermals low, is there any other stuff one can do like step the processor cycles down? Any help is much appreciated.
