I tried Kumhos many years ago and didn't think they had very good grip, so 
when it came time to get some tires for my gli I went with "toyo t1s".  
There are many reviews of tires on tirerack to give you an idea of what 
people think.  Miata.org or miata.net or some web site has quite a few 
reviews too.  The toyo t1s has excellent wet grip and very good dry grip, 
they are quiet enough so I don't even think about it...

tirerack is mail order, so you have to pay someone locally to install 
the tires.
