What is it for exhaust? Stop babying that car. A little throttle never hurt a 16v ; )
I would look at the motor mounts. One of them is probably worn out. I would get an old style rubber front mount for an old a2. They are much more rugged and keep the motor flex down. Its a cheap simple fix. I fill mine with polyurathane glue and they never go bad. .02 --- Adam Frank <[email protected]> wrote: > just wondering if any of you have seen or had > exhaust problems with the > 16v's > > Ive replaced my exaust once in the past 3 years and > had it patched up twice. > > It seems my problem is that the roll of the engine > keeps pulling and > stretching at the exhaust and causes it to pull the > pipe out of the backside > of the muffler... this has happened 3x now and been > repaired by 3 different > shops. > > The exhaust is hung properly with some bushings and > a bracket to allow it to > swing a little with the engine, but usualy 8-12 > months after I get it welded > back together, it starts to crack again around where > it joins the muffler... > making extra 'bubbling' raspy noise at idle. > > I drive the car like an old lady and almost never > drive it hard enough to > even open up the second barrel on the throttle body. > (i want my car to last) > The front motor mount is about 14months old and its > now got a straight pipe > where the cat used to be. > > I never dump the clutch or shift hard enough to make > the engine rock real > bad, all the motions I do are smooth and gradual. > But alas, it looks like im > going to have to get my exhaust fixed a 4th time. > > Any comments? > > '91 GLi 2Ltr 16v > > _______________________________________________ > a2-16v-list mailing list > [email protected] > http://mail.a2-16v.com/mailman/listinfo/a2-16v-list > For list archives, see listinfo link above. > __________________________________ Discover Yahoo!
