I think moving the CE up 6" or 7" and back 6" or 7" would not produce a noticable difference in sailing charastics. It would increase the lead (the distance CE is designed to be behind the center of lateral resistance, to produce weather helm) by a very small distance but IMHO not enoughto make a noticable difference in weather helm. Any problems with too much weather or lee helm can usually be corrected with mast rake.
