Bill, Those dark smoky areas could be bad news. Sounds like osmosis blistering, where water gets through the gel coat and starts dissolving the chemicals in the layers behind it. (I assume you're talking about below the water line.) There's others on the list who have dealt with that or you can get a technical bulletin from Interlux (#900D) that describes the causes and how to fix it. Good luck, Larry
