Hey Dave, Have I ever mentioned what an intelligent writer you are!! I have printed your email for my pending legal defense. I will be on the phone latter to Claude, who is the best attorney, (and Charlie Chan poster collector), I know !!
Sue P.S....thank you all for your continued support and friendship.......... ----- Original Message ----- From: David Kusumoto<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU<mailto:MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU> Sent: Wednesday, June 25, 2008 10:31 PM Subject: Re: [MOPO] Frames-Read before you Buy!! ** As noted previously -- truth is always the best defense to fight a potential lawsuit alleging libel or slander. Even competitors in the same industry can offer "opinions," so long as facts are not in dispute. ** That said, I would be curious if you were "contacted" by phone or by e-mail. Everyone (and I can't think of a single person on these boards who disagrees) supports not only your craftsmanship -- but also your intelligence and integrity. Threats are just that, threats. If "money is no object," I would etch into granite -- the comment the person to you that his goal was to "put you out of business" in the face of allegations of misrepresentation of its products or plagiarism of marketing language with intent to mislead or confuse customers. ** Finally, even though Sean's comments have since been graciously amended with loads of contrition -- he is, by reputation, (like me), known for his occasional combativeness and taking the contrarian view in public. This is why -- while he has since cloaked his comments under the umbrella of supporting "competition" in the marketplace -- I am still puzzled about the intent of his original query, because in my view (and possibly in my view only), it represented a direct or indirect challenge to the reputation and integrity of BOTH businesses, since there are no other framers I know of who are regularly contributing members of MoPo. I am curious as to how he learned of this other framing company before he put his query out there -- offering no negative opinion in either direction -- like a delayed pipe bomb. Your responses were spectacular -- and not hearing from the company that wants to "put you out of business" on these boards -- allows us, as customers, to reaffirm our support for you -- and to disregard "the other company" and its strong-armed tactics -- with contempt. -d. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 2008 15:44:11 -0700 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Frames-Read before you Buy!! To: MoPo-L@LISTSERV.AMERICAN.EDU Hi Sean, I really appreciate the comments. I have been a member of this group for many years. I am longtime movie poster collector who happens to make custom frames. Most of you have known me for a long time. You have read the articles I write for this hobby. You have read the responses I make to questions or comments from the group. I would hope that you see me as a fair person. First and foremost, I am a movie poster collecting member of this group who happens to have knowledge of preservation of paper. I have acquired that knowledge from almost 30 years of experience and research. My comments about that company were a combination of information that is direct from their website, from customers that have bought frames from them and from my own personal experiences with them. All comments regarding my own experiences with them are truthful. So, after my response post to you, I was contacted by someone who represented themselves as Wholesale Poster Frames' attorney, threatening to "sue me and put me out of business". They inquired if I was aware who their owner was and, just to inform me, that money was no object, that he had been told to put me out of business at any cost. In actuality, the person who contacted me is listed at www.bbb.org<http://www.bbb.org/> as the owner of Wholesale Poster Frames, so perhaps he is an attorney also or he and his attorney share the same name. Whatever the case may be, my comments were as stated in the listing.."read before you buy". As a member of MoPo, I happen to also be a business owner. However, as a member of the group, I am sharing my personal experiences with this company. My post was in response to your comments that an Archival frame with UV filtered plexiglass was being offered and I was pointing out that, nowhere on their website did they say they were offering an "archival frame with UV filtered plexiglass". So, that was the gist of my original post. It would seem they are either members of our MoPo group or have someone on the group they know. Why not join the group and respond to my comments if they find them false. That would seem the fair thing to do and they would be able to respond to all of you and state their case regarding their frames. As I have said many times on this group and in all the articles I write, it doesn't matter to me where you buy your custom frames, just always ask for genuine 1/8" thick UV filtered plexiglass and Artcare museum backing. That will preserve your posters. As consumers, you are free to buy wherever you want and I appreciate competition. It makes things more interesting. Just when comparing, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. That's it. Hi Sue, I had no idea about their prior history, and thanks for the post to set everything straight. In general; competition is good, and I doubt you would mind the mention of another reputable framer even if you do set the industry standard (perhaps Glen would prefer it if we also only mention one poster dealer from now on), but that is a far cry from the apparent leeches this company appears to be and I apologize for mentioning them. The Courts have been very aggressive against cyber-squatters and I would think you have a very clear case against this company if you chose to go that route to protect yourself (not to mention damages against your reputation/goodwill). For the record, my pride and joy Dracula one-sheet sits in a Sue Heim frame, and I wouldn’t dream of it any other way.
