Gav said to Krimel:
emotions are static quality pre-intellectual exp is dynamic. emotions are
psycho-somatic patterns registered in the wake of dq. emotions are not the
immediately felt quality of the situation because they are defined, whereas the
immediate felt quality is not. static/dynamic

dmb says:
Exactly. Krimel doesn't yet understand the MOQ's most basic distinctions. But
it's not just about the MOQ. It's about the differences between the sciences
and philosophy. If he were taking the class I'm taking right now and tried to
defend his reductionism, he'd flunk out. It's a very tough course, a
requirement for the social science students and is taught by the director of
the Master's program. The case I laid out for him yesterday was basically the
same case I made in my midterm paper. He thinks it's just romanticism and
wishful thinking but my professor heaped praise upon me, said it was "very
convincing" and gave me an A+. The difference could hardly be more stark. If I
had any humility at all, I'd split the difference between these two impressions
and take the truth to be somewhere in the middle. But I don't see it that way.
One of the two is in a much better position to make the call and it ain't him.
So I just think Krimel is clueless, doesn't get it at all, and has
no capacity to judge the quality of an argument. His dogma just can't hunt.
It's a kind of scientific fundamentalism.
