Great idea! The book Words Their Way is an excellent resource to provide teacher background on developmental spelling, has a qualitative spelling inventories, and ideas for word sorts. And cost-effective! You might check into that, Amy. It also has a companion book for English Language Learners to be used once a teacher has an understanding of the basic book.
