What are people using on sites of the same scale as ours? Tell me more, fast. And remember not to multiply risk gratuitously at the front of the schedule.
You had better care, and make a concrete proposal, otherwise CVS wins, because it's here now and we use it for the website. Get real!
So I need help here. I freely admit that, with all my other mozilla.org commitments and a day job, I don't have time to do the work necessary here.
I'm probably not quite the sort of person you're looking for but, I can probably offer about 1/2 - 1 day next weekend to trawl CMS feature lists on the internet and see how they match up to some set of requirements for developer.mozilla.org. Obviously this on its own won't be terribly helpful, but if anyone thinks that it's a useful first step then I will try to put some time into it. Of course, to do that I'd need to know what features are considered important. People seem to want some sort of version control mecanism, and user permissions / authentication functionality. What else?
So if I'm the only person who thinks CVS is a bad choice, then
fine - there'll be no alternative proposal, and we'll go with that.
But if you agree with me, and want to build d.m.o. on something better, and can answer Brendan's call with a concrete suggestion of technology which is used elsewhere for similar things, go for it in this thread.
