I personally used subversion for one project and didn't like it. It's a rather small project, so it's not that bad, but on large projects, it's a pretty big waste of diskspace, as it keeps two copies of the repository on your disk at all times.
I don't like their branching mechanism either, but that may be just my personal CVS look and feel.
It doesn't support checking out single files, too, just directories.
So far my nits on that system.
