A quick test on mingw revealed a few probs,

A quick test on Windows 7 would be great , it would tell us if we have
missed anything silly.

There are the new MSVC build scripts (configure make make check etc )
(note: they are only wrappers around Brians project files) which I
find are much quicker than using a mouse
