Apart from whatever happens in the FAT directory (that I don't touch), I
believe that there is only one file in x86_64 that uses PIC
(sqr_basecase.asm).  I have a feeling that I stripped out all the PIC
paths - sqr_basecase only has a PIC path because I converted it recently
and left it in place.
