] Anyway, this program could have been great. Unfortunately there is a drawback:
] if you support all musical devices, what do you want to do as composer?
] - make 4 different versions with the same program, adapted to the capabilities
] of the chips? (too much work)
] - make one version that uses the same kinds of instruments on all chips?
] (sounds okay if you have only one or two of the devices, but sounds like shit
] if you have all the supported chips by SME...)
] - make one version that uses the chips to its capablities, so if you have e.g.
] PSG+SCC+MSX Music+MSX AUdio, you can make a song for 26 channels or so?
] (sounds okay if you have all chips, sounds crappy if you have only one or two:
] half the voices are missing...)
]
] I guess it will have to be a compromise between the 2nd and the 3rd option,
] but then you might just as well use Moonblaster (would be nice if this one
] supported PSG better, ofcourse) or SCC-Blaffer.
]
] So, excpt that you can use the same environment for all your chips, what is
] the use of such multi-chips programs?
]
] Just a question....
You can make a few versions optimized for the most common chip combinations
(e.g., like with the japanese games that support fm-pac. The fm-pac version
uses the PSG differently then the PSG only version). The advantage of making
the different versions with the same program is that you can easily re-use
the same melody lines for the different versions within the same program. If
using different programs to develop the different versions, you have to do
the whole work all over again in each program. And then you also need to load
different music replayers, depending on the hardware detected...

Kind regards,
