Zorita has a fairly clear-minded point of
view on this issue. But I'd like to stress
a rather clouded point:

While you may think USD600 is not much to
ask for a new MSX, I believe it's too much
and could ultimately cause its precocious
demise. You see, MSX originally was never
an expensive computer, and today you can
buy a (not-so-good) PC with that money.
This could easily blur the line between a
POSSIBLE new MSX and our current PCs, and
probably wouldn't grab attention from the
big audience. Why spend USD600 in an unk-
nown machine while I can spend USD700 in
a full-fledged PC which everyone knows?
Nowadays, MSX is really a fairly unknown
system. It hurts to see a lot of people
never heard of MSX, or worse, only remem-
bers it as a piece of informatics anedoc-
tary.

A new MSX should and must be cheap, or
nobody will buy it. This is because you
could get better gaming muscle with any
current-generation gaming console, and
better home & office muscle with any
current Windows box. It must be something
different, special, with personality, and
at least cheaper than a PC. I wouldn't
mind if it were cheaper than a PS2. :)

However, ASCII still didn't address publicly
the big audience about a new MSX. This is
a rather "basic" point that most people have
no way to be sure of. Believing more detailed
information is even more difficult.

There are so many things to be said and too
little to be seen! These are strange times. :(
