I'm not comfortable with this; the null encoder should be null, not "null and sometimes wave header". Can you make that a separate plugin, please? This may duplicate some of your null code, but sounds somewhat more logical to me. Is the setting for "format" correct? You're setting it to 1 without checking the audio format.
