  Is it worth it?  Not sure how many people need the functionality.

  I am not trying to downplay it; I'm the one who started this thread. ;) And 
of course I would be very appreciative if I could magically fix Squeezebox 
Server access through a new nightly dongle.  But if I could just browse to a 
M3U file containing the Server stream URI... that might be enough.

  I'm pestering the Slimdevices.com forum with questions on populating default 
Server playlists in hopes that this will seamlessly work.
