Well for what it is worth, I run a number of servers hosting busy web
sites, all of which use MySQL 3.23.18 or 3.23.49 databases. One site gets
over 1.5 million hits/day. MySQL uses minimal system resources and has
never let us down once. Although I've played with Oracle 8i, I've never
seen the need to replace MySQL with it. I also have experience of Sybase
10 which is plain horrible in comparison (all those raw partitions, data
segments, log segments, having to extend databases when they outgrow
segments, etc).
