Hi everyone, I am just starting to work with MySql on MAC OS X.When i installed mysql i got the following message :
PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER ! This is done with: /usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root -p password 'new-password' /usr/local/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h localhost -p password 'new-password' However, when I try the first command, it gives me the error: error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) although the mysqld dameon is running. When i try to execute the 'mysql' client it connects properly with the server but i am unable to execute any command from the client since I dont have a valid user id and password combination. So please let me know , how to set up a working root account for mysql.
