Marsha, I think what she is saying is that the honest people are already paying their taxes and doing their part but NOW they will have to change their ways of buying and do MORE paperwork, thus they are the ones getting screwed. That was how I took that sentance.
Also for those of you on the debit card band wagon, good luck to you all. I don't own one and never will. See both credit and debit cards come with $0 liability due to theft and identity theft. The main difference is that with a credit card, the charges go into pending until the investigation is complete, you don't accrue interest on the amount and you don't have that taken away from your available balance. It is totally different with debit cards. You will get the money back that the crooks used from your account, however it takes 4-6 weeks! So, say you have $1,000 in your checking account, someone hacks your debit card and spends every last sent, you are out $1,000 for 4-6 week. How do you pay your bills? People you owe money do don't care that your debit card was hacked. So, sorry, no debit cards for me. I also agree with the statement that credit cards can be good if used properly and paid off each month. I would say little than 5% of credit card owners actually do this. So yes, I still say this is a ploy to get people more into credit card debt. Use a credit card.....don't need to file a 1099.
