I've dealt with 2 banks and a credit card company over fraudulent transactions
on my accounts-- called and reported immediatley upon noticing the pending
transaction on my account-- EVERY time I get told "Well, that transaction is
still pending so we have to wait until it clears and then we can open an
investigation and if it was really unauthorized then we can reverse it."

WTF? So you "have" to wait until the theives actually get PAID? Why not just
put a stop on the authorization and shut em down before it cost anyone money?
It makes no sense.

Can't say as for BofA-- but won't go near that institution for a host of other
reasons anyway.

Rhonda,

I'm not sure what bank you go through that has this policy on credit
card theft.  I've had BofA and and a local bank and both do exactly
the opposite.  ANY time you notice a charge that is not yours, call
and they will reverse it immediately and then do a fraud
investigation.  I've had this happen a few times, once was a company
typed in the wrong card number, it was reversed immediately and once
when my home was robbed with cards stolen and used.  Never have I had
to wait more than 6 hours to see my account credited every penny
(faster than the credit cards).  And never has a charge been turned
down. They send you a paper in the mail, you sign to say it wasn't
your charge, and the credit is permanent.

That 4-6 week thing may have been a problem when debit cards were new
to society, but it isn't anymore (maybe its a local bank near you that
has that policy?)
