Consider adding "worldwide" as follows:
The purpose of NewNOG is to provide forums in the North American
region for education and the sharing
of knowledge for the worldwide Internet operations community.
I think this helps clarify that although the focus for venues is on
North America, that the focus of the work
is not geographically restricted.
