While /var/run would certainly be preferable if we need to keep them
around, I'm not sure I see why we still need them. Most usages of PID
files are generally superceded by SMF and contracts.
this would only be for legacy routing daemons that can't be converted to
SMF services - in particular the zebra routing daemons until quagga
integrates
(once this happens we can upgrade zebra daemons to their SMF quagga
counterparts).
