Clearview makes some forward progress here:

        * libdlpi in Nevada (not the one in S10) completely shields the
          application developer from dealing with DLPI styles.

        * The forthcoming /dev/net filesystem (which libdlpi will prefer
          to use) will be DLPI style-1 only.
