I think you can safely state that virtually ANY external modem will work
fine with Linux. I like Supra (Diamond) modems myself.... I've had two of
'em, and one Microcom. I wouldn't buy Microcom (at this point) because they
initially stopped supporting the less expensive version of the 33.6 modem I
bought (directly from them) and then, after Compaq bought them, they started
supporting the less-expensive version again and stopped supporting the
full-featured version I bought and introduced a nearly identical version of
the modem I have except it was more expensive (and has a few more "features"
that mine doesn't) which they DO support.... so I'm kinda left out here....
But other than just personal dislike, I see no reason not to purchase a
Microcom product if you're not concerned about long-term support.
