I may be way off base here, but did you update the cdrecord, mkisofs, xcdroast and related packages after installing mdk. 8.2? The versions that shipped with the earlier (I don't know about now, but the one I have) 8.2 was broken and cdrecord would not work. If you've got the latest packages, ignore me. e.
