i've used both lilo and grub; grub has many advantages, though an
intuitive understaqnding of their syntax is not necessarily one
of them *g*.  one of the best benefits i've discovered is that
with grub as your bootloader it will *safely* overwrite the mbr
on an ntfs system, allowing for dual-boot with nt4.0 (at work). 
i'm not sure if lilo can yet do that, or even if it works with
w2k, xp, etc., but it pleasantly surprised the hell out of me
when i took a chance and ended up not having to use a boot floppy.

not really germane to this, but perhaps others will find this as
interesting and useful as i did.
