Here's a URL link that gives a really nice, screen-by-screen installation
sequence for XP Pro.

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp

For whatever the reason, the installation of my XP Pro does not have those
same screens. I am only given the NTFS "Quick" and "Full" partition/format
choices, unless I am upgrading an existing FAT32 partition. It may be my
build.

It's been a while since I reinstalled XP Home, but I am pretty sure that it
does give you at least the choice of FAT32.

I would suggest that you make sure that the partition or drive that you want
to place XP in is already formatted for FAT32 and do not allow the
installation to convert it to NTFS.

I agree with everyone else in that you can only place XP in a primary
partition, and that you will have to update lilo to give control back to
MDK.

I only have W2k, but didn't I read somewhere that XP is only installable on
NTFS partitions ? Isn't it the case that XP is the first Windblows OS to not
give the option to install on FAT32?
