T!!! Your e-mail (which I've snipped - sorry) was masterful! Well done Sir! I've just gone through a similar procedure this evening and am even now installing ML 9.0. I was a bit worried it was going to overwrite my Windoze partitions (98SE & Win2K-PRO) but so far, so good!
Last time I installed ML I chose "Expert" (NOT!!!) and somehow started NFS which wouldn't unmount. This list has been very helpful in resolving that, but I needed 2000 instead of XP Pro for study purposes so decided to blow the whole lot away and start afresh. Had fun getting rid of the old partitions, but luckily I have a DOS utility called "Partition Manager" which is much less flaky than good old DOS FDISK. Pity the "fdisk /mbr" switch is undocumented, isn't it? Such a handy command... Once again, thanks for your 'mail - it was an enjoyable read! Joe, I wouldn't use 'fdisk' of any kind to create an XP partition fro your installation. Use your 'fdisk' to clean-up what you have done so that you are back to just the Linux installation.
