hdparm -d1 -X66 /dev/hdXX or to test things out prior, do an hdparm -t /dev/hdXX - and note what it tells you. Typing hdparm will give you some params, doing a man hdparm will definately fill you with info - sometimes too much info. You can also explore the /etc/sysconfig/harddisks for some information on what to muck with and what not to muck with. Finding out if your IDE controller is doing it's job you can look through the system boot messges (i.e. dmesg | more) and see if it's acting nicely - or better yet, go to your MB's website and dig through the tech info on linux drivers. -- Fri Nov 15 11:35:01 EST 2002 -------------------------------- | __ __ | | / \ /| |'-. | | .\__/ || | | | | _ / `._ \|_|_.-' | | | / \__.`=._) (_ |kuhn media australia | |/ ._/ |"""""""""| |http://kma.0catch.com | |'. `\ | | |stephen kuhn | ;"""/ / | | |email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | smk ) /_/| |.-------.| |mobile: 0410-728-389 | ' `-`' " " |linux user:267497 -------------------------------- The person who's taking you to lunch has no intention of paying.
