I bought one of those kits about a year ago for my Epson 777.  It works,
I don't know how, but it does.  I got the added *benefit* that after a
couple of refills, either my chips burned out, or the circuit in my
printer quit.  Anyway, I don't have to reset the chips any more. Just
fill and go.  By the way, the floppy disk doesn't boot you into
windows.  It's some sort of special executable that only resets the
chips.
