[newbie] Rune errors my machine

I got a Linux magazine that had a demo software CD on it. I tried running a game, Rune, and had problems.   When I run the run_demo.x86 or the run_demo it locks up my system. It looks like it starts to launch the game but just hoses my computer.   How do I troubleshoot this? What could be wrong? Is it my Mandrake8.0 config or the game demo?   Thanks   -Allen
