Both of those chipsets have linux drivers written and GPLed by SiS but they are masked under other names in the driver library because they are so similar to other products (The 7018 looks like a trident, and the 7012 looks like an i810 Audio), and this particular generation of ALSA drivers doesn't seem to work, but the OSS drivers do. So it is a minor tweak. Yes, not as convenient as Windows but at least out in the open where something can be done. Civileme
