I think so, it should be provided by your ISP ? I would think.
do you mean the *checkbox* for "Get DNS servers from DHCP" ?
Mine is checked to do so ... and I would think you should use their
domain for DNS lookups ...

this just verifies what you posted earliar.

take the io out of hosts and see what happens, Make it look like:
127.0.0.1       localhost

or reconfigure your network interface with/without settings to test
it. I have run out of ideas, hopefully someone can help ...
