if you're not sure where a file went, there are a couple ways to find it. one o$
the ways is to run (as root) "updatedb". this updates the database for our next
program, locate. run "locate filename" where filename is what you're looking
for.
another way to find a file is with "find".. it goes something like this:

find path_to_start_looking_in -name filename

you can use wildcard in the name, too. so, for example, say i made a file that
had "peter" in the name, but i can't remember the whole name or where i put it.
if i run "find ~/ -name *peter*" it will find any file (recursively) in my home
directory. i could also do "find / -name *peter*" to search the whole computer.

hope that hels,

-peter
