I am either the only newbie that knows about this list, the only newbie period, or the only newbie that is brave enough to ask questions. Anyway, if I am being pesky, just ignore me or let me know. I am having some fun adventures in the land of linux. I found out that I should NOT dock or undock my laptop while running linux. I got some cool lines on the screen and lost all functionality so I had to power down the hard way. Well on to the question. What is the deal with the kernel? In my mind I associate it with the system registry from Windows. But is that what it is? Well anywho, I tried that linuxant thing because it was the only thing that made even a shred of sense to me (and because I have nothing to lose if I totally hose my system.) It has a 30-day trial so I figured why not? Anyway, interestingly enough, part of the installation of the driver was to give linuxant my windows driver files. So after doing that, still no wireless. I do get on ok with a wired connection but thats it. I dont think I did any kernel updates or mods so maybe I am missing something?? Any ideas?
