I don't think you were wrong. The fact that we have heated tech discussions
proves the community is alive, nothing more.

And about ways of saying things, I bet that also applies to all the loud
people here, like myself, you or Oren (seriously, "an Italian, an Israeli, a
Dutch and an Argentinian walk into a pub" sounds like the beginning of an
80s joke)


Anyway, and back to the original topic: it's clear that EVERYONE* wants to
switch to either Git of Mercurial.
Why not just do a poll among the committers and switch already?
It will benefit everyone, and it's always possible to switch from one to the
other or from a site to another if it doesn't work perfectly.
