i'm amazed that it's not obvious that what I'm asking is to do both:

"listen to the advice and build the object model with the collections
correctly"
AND
"just add it as it is as a simple property and then you become responsible
for management of that property"

with a little flavor of "let NHib manage the READING of that property (that
it doesn't know it's actually setting in the db)" by treating it as an
always-db-generated value?

the answers I'm getting aren't clear, as in solid: i'm not being told I
can't do it, just that this or that person won't 'stoop to that level' so to
speak.
