You're right Eric: it's a double-edged sword with OSS: if people here were charging for their time, they wouldn't survive telling people to piss off because they don't want to help them with their problems that fall outside their scope of 'perfect'.
I only became terse after having to repeatedly defend the rationale of having the FK in the table, after having NONE of my other legitimate questions or concerns which really have nothing to do with it answered. TBH, while appreciated, even your email is only adding fuel to the fire. I've been the one trying to get back on topic here. and still, yet, no one is saying that nhibernate can't map this field -- just that i shouldn't be asking, and that it's impolite to ask for a real answer. that's a horsecrap answer.
